Teen’s death natural

CORDELE — Crisp County Coroner Jimmy Rainey said he was notified Wednesday that the December, 2008 death of a local teen was from natural causes.

Rainey explained that 19 year old Katie Marie Pomirko died on Dec. 7 of cardiac arrhythmia. After her body was found in an apartment on S. Pecan St., it was sent to the state crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.

Doctors at the lab discovered abnormalities in her heart, Rainey said. They could not, however, say with certainty what might have triggered the arrhythmia

Katie's high school, Crisp County, Cordele, GA, has retired her softball number to hang in their field.
